about

Just 90km long, the Nidd gets its name from the Celtic word for brilliant. It rises at Nidd Head Spring on the slopes of Great Whernside in the
Yorkshire Dales, 595m above sea level.

The Nidd flows through Pateley Bridge and Knaresborough before going on to join the River Ouse at Nun Monkton near York.

Knaresborough's Waterside, by the Nidd, is a famous beauty spot. There is plenty to see and good pubs at either end and a few cafes in between and you can boat on the river in summer.

The Nidd can be enjoyed on the busier Waterside or on the many quiet Riverside Paths in the area, particularly in the Nidd Gorge.
